Welcome to School Year 2008 - 2009.
As the outgoing President for the Advisory Council, one of my last responsibilities is to recruit new members – currently we have three open positions that will be up for election during the September 3rd Open House Meeting.

The Mission Statement for the advisory board is: The mission of St. Mary’s advisory council is to aid the administration with decisions in matters that will academically, economically and spiritually better the school by acting as a liaison between the community of St. Mary’s school and the school administration.  This shall be done by the member’s positive examples, actions and Christian Beliefs.

In the past couple of years the Advisory Council has assisted the school in:
  • raising over $40,000 in the Pasta for Playgrounds and Pastabilities dinners,
  • working with other volunteers on the security assessment,
  • making lunch for our kids on  the student appreciation day,
  • assisting Sister Marianella and Mr. Salcido with the registration process and other issues during the year, helping the teachers fill their “wish list”, and working with our large body of alumni in giving out the first Alumni of the year award to Senator Pete Domenici
Currently the 2008/2009 Advisory Council members include: Todd Clarke, Gary Romero, Paul Maestas, Steve Garcia, Drew Setter, Elaine Gonzales, and Howard Funchess.

Advisory council members are required to attend monthly meetings (normally the 2nd Tuesday starting at 6:30) and are expected to chair a committee as appointed by the president of the Advisory Council.   Your time on the Advisory Council does count towards your family’s 20 in service hours, but trust me when I say you will easily spend 10 to 20 times more time working with the school than the minimum hours required.

If you believe you have an interest in serving, please complete the survey/registration process by clicking on this link: www.nmapartment.com/stmarysschoolelection

The information collected in the survey/registration for the election will be disseminated in the Wednesday Envelope on August 27th as well as the night of the election.

If you have limited access to the internet or need assistance with this form, I would be glad to fax it to you or mail you a paper copy.  Either way, the completed form is due either online or in the Sister’s office no later than 5:00 pm August 22nd.

If you have any additional questions about what it means to serve on the Advisory Council, please do not hesitate to email or call me.

Thank you for your time and interest,
Todd Clarke
